“The definitive aim of catechesis is to put people
in communion and intimacy with Jesus Christ”
(General Directory for Catechesis, #80)

St. Joan of Arc provides Religious Education classes through our Youth Faith Formation department. Formerly known as PSR, Youth Faith Formation seeks to provide sacramental preparation and a basic exploration of the Catholic Faith through opportunities to encounter Jesus Christ. It is our hope that these seeds planted during youth formation are cultivated and able to grow into a deep relationship with Jesus Christ that not only creates activated disciples, but also changes the world.

We believe that parents, by their example and guidance, are the primary religious educators of their children. This is made present during the Order of Baptism when parents are instructed to “strive to bring him/her up in the faith, so that this divine life may be preserved from the contagion of sin, and may grow in him/her day by day.”  Religious Education classes support the parents by providing a formal learning experience and offering opportunities for peer group and community expressions of faith. Our classes emphasize love of God and love of neighbor and self. Your children are very special and our goal is to help them relate to their Catholic faith in a safe and comfortable environment. We want St. Joan of Arc to be a place where they feel loved and nurtured in the faith.

We will begin our 2020/2021 academic year with our students participating in a
Managed Home-Study program.
Our hope is that we are safely able to return to In-Person instruction in January of 2021.

Tuition for the 2020/2021 school year will be:

$50 per Young Disciple (ages 3-Kindergarten)
$100 per student in grades 1-8
There will be no family cap this year.

Sacrament fees covering the cost of extra materials and retreats are added as follows:

$50 for 2nd grade
$75 for 8th grade

What is Managed Home Study?

Our Managed Home Study  is an open-ended delivery method where families can work at their own pace to encounter Jesus Christ through lessons planned and presented by the parish staff. Lessons will be sent out weekly, and on average will take between 30-45 minutes to complete. Students will turn in an assignment each week so we can follow their progress throughout the year.

From time to time, we will produce St. Joan of Arc-specific content in the form of videos that will keep you involved in the life of the parish. These videos will introduce you to many aspects of discipleship already happening at St. Joan of Arc and will include “Discipleship Challenges” for you to participate in as a family to increase opportunities to encounter Jesus Christ. These discipleship videos will be sent out frequently along with the lessons.

Do I have to register my children?

The Diocese requires all students in preparation for the Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation to participate in two years of immediate preparation for the Sacrament. At St. Joan of Arc, this means all 1st, 2nd, 7th and 8th grade students must register for PSR and turn in work frequently to remain in good standing to receive the Sacraments at the normal time.

All students in grades 3-6 should register for PSR to remain in the habit of forming a faith life and a relationship with Jesus Christ.
