Faith Formation

Adult Faith Formation:

For those interested in learning more about the Catholic Church or becoming Catholic, we welcome you to explore our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). The RCIA journey is for those adults who have never been baptized, have been baptized in a tradition other than Catholicism, or have been baptized Catholic but not confirmed. Anyone who desires to learn more about our faith is also welcome to participate.

RCIA is a spiritual journey filled with study, reflection, prayer, and interaction within the parish community. Our participants are journeying toward a deeper relationship with Christ and the completion of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist), as well as becoming active members of the community. RCIA meets on Thursday evenings from mid-September through the Easter Vigil for formal study, but inquirers are encouraged to begin their journey at any time of the year through personal interaction with the adult faith formation director and possibly other adult faith formation groups.

Youth Faith Formation:

St. Joan of Arc provides Religious Education classes through our Youth Faith Formation department. Formerly known as PSR, Youth Faith Formation seeks to provide sacramental preparation and a basic exploration of the Catholic Faith through opportunities to encounter Jesus Christ. We hope that these seeds planted during youth formation are cultivated and able to grow into a deep relationship with Jesus Christ that not only creates activated disciples but also changes the world.

We believe that parents, by their example and guidance, are the primary religious educators of their children. This is made present during the Order of Baptism when parents are instructed to “strive to bring him/her up in the faith, so that this divine life may be preserved from the contagion of sin, and may grow in him/her day by day.”  Religious Education classes support the parents by providing a formal learning experience and offering opportunities for peer group and community expressions of faith. Our classes emphasize a love of God and love of neighbor and self. Your children are very special and our goal is to help them relate to their Catholic faith in a safe and comfortable environment. We want St. Joan of Arc to be a place where they feel loved and nurtured in the faith.
