Our Lady of Fatima

An Our Lady of Fatima statue will be displayed in the church from 8-10 a.m. on Thursday, July 13. Pope Francis has granted a plenary indulgence to the faithful who visit a devotional statue of Our Lady of Fatima solemnly displayed for public veneration in any church, oratory or proper place during the days of the anniversary of the apparitions, the 13th of each month from May to October 2017, and there devoutly participate in some celebration or prayer in honor of the Virgin Mary. In addition, the faithful must pray the Our Father, recite the Creed and invoke Our Lady of Fatima. To obtain the plenary indulgence, the faithful must also fulfill the ordinary conditions: go to sacramental confession, receive Eucharistic communion, be interiorly detached from sin, and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father. It is appropriate but not necessary that the sacramental Confession and especially Holy Communion and the prayer for the Pope’s intentions take place on the same day the indulgenced work is performed; however, it is sufficient that these sacred rites and prayers be carried out within about 20 days before or after the indulgenced act. An indulgence may be applied to oneself or to a deceased person.
